Welcome back! With the new year we started a new unit, this time focusing on one artist, Paul Klee. All of the classes (even the big kids!) saw
this cartoon about Klee featuring his cat painting. Afterwards, I lead a guided drawing of the cat and we discussed the concept of balance in art and the shapes used to make the cat.
We even had an alien cat sneak in during class.
The real fun began, however, when the chalk pastels were added. Yes, this is an example of why play clothes are necessary for art class!
Next week we will finish our cats and then will be moving on to humans and paint. Don't forget those play clothes!
